The market segment of home environment printers is a profitable battlefield for many giant manufacturers, including Canon. This world’s leading manufacturer has released a long list of printers for home environments that boast high quality and capable specs. Last year, it released the Canon PIXMA TS8320 wireless all-in-one printer that focuses on a consumer-grade photo printer.
Despite the multipurpose printer is designed for home environments, it can be an excellent partner for home offices. It churns out not only good-looking photos but also highly legible text to represent your business. Despite its lack of automatic document feeder, the machine brings dozens of features for convenient printing experience.

Super Stylish and Well-Constructed
The TS8320 is a new definition of print with style. Unlike most Canon printers with sleek design and round-edges, this model looks robust with edgy solid plastic material. It is available in Black, Red, and White variants, allowing you to choose one that suits best with your interior.
At 5.6 inches by 14.7 inches by 12.6 inches and weighing 14.6 pounds, this model is compact and lightweight. It is smaller in size and girth compared to Epson’s XP-8600, another photo-centric printer released by Epson. This consumer-grade photo printer fits to any space, even on your small desktop.
From the exterior, it looks simple without an automatic document feeder on its top. To help configure the operation, this machine is equipped with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display. This is the only control panel brought by the printer aside from a power button.
Interestingly, the TS8320 has a tray that is hidden above the main paper tray. This tray is specifically designed to print labels on optical discs. But I found it can be a multipurpose tray that allows you to print different media types such as magnetic photo papers, removable paper stickers, and even fingernail stickers.
Multiple Functions with Capable Specs
Canon’s TS8320 is a photo-centric printer but it comes with multiple functions including copying and scanning. It delivers powerful performance for high-quality print results, thanks to capable specs that it brings.
1. Printing
The inkjet photo printer is powered by Canon FINE inkjet technology with 6656 nozzle configuration. It also supports up to 4800 x 1200 dpi print resolution. The combination of inkjet technology and high print resolution results in nice details and accurate colors for outstanding photo printing. Additionally, it features Canon ChromaLife100 that extends the longevity of your photos.
If you have a creative project or simply want to print photos for a family album, this printer supports borderless printing. The 4-inch by 6-inch photos can be easily handled by this photo-centric printer model.
2. Copying
The TS8320 can also serve as a capable copier with dependable specs and performance. It supports maximum copies up to 99 pages at one time. It also comes with reduction and enlargement features that range from 25% up to 400%. More other features to enjoy from the copier include borderless copy, ID card copy, disc label copy, and frame erase copy.
4. Scanning
This model is equipped with a flatbed scanner that allows you to scan documents with ease. The scanner supports up to 2400 x 4800 dpi optical resolution for clear documents on the screen. Featuring the CIS scan element, you can easily save physical documents on the computer and never lose it. Other features to enjoy from this scanner include photo scanning, wireless scanning, and scan to Canon PRINT app.
Not So Impressive Print Speed
You may have all day long to print family photos or business documents at home but the slow output can drive you crazy. I should say this printer is not the slowest but it is not fast enough to impress me. Canon’s TS8320 is rated at 15 pages per minute for mono pages and 10 pages per minute for color. But much like other printers, the speed depends on the connection and type of documents that you print.
For a 4 inches by 6 inches borderless photo, this machine takes 17 seconds to print. Compared to Canon Pixma G7020 that is not a photo-centric printer, this speed is much faster. Overall, I love the speed and performance it delivers though it is not as impressive as I expected.
High Input Capacity with Double Feeder
A good printer is one that makes your printing task much easier. The TS8320 is a device that will help handle your paper without worrying about running out of paper, thanks to a double feeder that offers high input capacity. It is equipped with a front cassette that holds up to 100 sheets. Not to mention it has a rear tray that holds up to 100 sheets. That means its total capacity is 200 sheets.
For a home office with moderate print volume, this input capacity is more than acceptable. It won’t demand you to reload the sheets every few hours or even days for occasional printing. Besides double feeder, this printer also comes with a multipurpose tray that holds 1 sheet of printable CD label or nail stickers.
When it comes to paper size, this model can handle a variety of paper sizes ranging from 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches to 8.5 inches by 14 inches (legal). It also supports the envelope and letter size. Meanwhile, the compatible paper types include plain paper, glossy paper, matte, and others such as greeting cards, magnetic photo paper, removable photo sticker, and printable CD discs.
Canon PIXMA TS8320 Output Quality
Canon as one of the world’s leading printer manufacturers has proven its capability to produce printers with high-quality output. The TS8320 is no exception as it delivers outstanding print results comparable to print shops. The document it printed came with highly legible text and well-shaped characters. Additionally, I did not notice banding or streaking when printing graphics.
Being a photo-centric printer, Canon’s TS8320 has proven its ability to deliver high-quality photo printing. When I printed a 4-inch by 6-inch photograph, this small machine delivered impressive detail with vibrant colors. The quality is comparable to six-ink printer products such as the Epson Expression Photo XP-8600.
6-Ink Cartridges, Expensive Print Cost
The consumer-grade photo printer uses 6 individual ink tanks to ensure color accuracy and photo-printing quality. It uses PGI-280 pigment Black ink and CLI-281 Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Photo Black. For replacement, Canon provides ink cartridges with high yield (XL) and the highest yield (XXL) for more efficient printing.
How about the print cost? Much like other photo printers, Canon’s TS8320 comes with a pricy running cost. You will need to spend around 4 cents per mono page and 15 cents per color page. However, the cost may vary depending on what you print. This cost is not troublesome for users with low to moderate print volume. Besides, it is also worth the money when you compare with the output quality.
Canon PIXMA TS8320 Connectivity and Mobile Printing Options
When it comes to connectivity and mobile printing, I have many things to say about this printer. I really appreciate how Canon embedded myriad connectivity options to this small printing machine. The standard interfaces include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, and PictBridge Wireless. The least mentioned allows you to print directly from compatible Canon cameras.
This printer also comes with a memory card slot that lets you print from an SD card. It gets much better with the support of mobile connectivity such as Google Cloud Print, Apple AirPrint, Canon Print app, and Mopria. These options let you enjoy the printer at its best. Additionally, each package comes with software bundles such as Scan Utility, Easy-PhotoPrint Editor, and Quick Menu.
Like other today’s printers, the TS8320 supports voice-activated printing. Simply use Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa to activate printing or check ink status. Besides, it allows you to integrate the printer with smart home appliances for an engaging experience.
Canon PIXMA TS8320 Pros and Cons
The PIXMA TS8320 is a multipurpose wireless printer I would love to have in my home office. It brings a lot of features to make everyday printing more fun and easier. Despite its versatility, I found a few drawbacks that you need to know. Be sure to consider these pros and cons before purchasing.

The consumer-grade photo printer is equipped with 6 ink tanks to ensure the quality of its output. This printer is dependable to deliver accurate color with impressive detail for your family photographs or creative projects.
- Fairly good print speed
As I mentioned earlier, its print speed is not that impressive but it is good enough for an inkjet printer. Even for borderless photos, it prints in less than 20 seconds, which is much faster than a non-photo printer.
- Myriad connectivity options
Connectivity is the highlight of the TS8320. It offers myriad connectivity options that allow you to connect the printer with other devices. Not to mention copious mobile printing capabilities that let you print documents or photos right from your smartphone or tablet.
Canon PIXMA TS8320 Cons
- Expensive running cost
Photo-centric printers have an expensive running cost and the TS8320 is no exception. Despite the manufacturer offering a high yield cartridge replacement that prints more pages, it remains pricey at 4 cents per mono page and 15 cents per color page.
- Lack of automatic document feeder
This model is not equipped with an automatic document feeder. That means you can still print duplex documents but it does not support auto duplex scanning and copying.
Final Verdict
Being a wireless consumer-grade photo printer, the Canon PIXMA TS8320 boasts versatility and amazing performance. It supports capable specs to deliver high-quality printing as well as establish robust connection. If you are looking for a powerful printer for the home environment, the TS8320 is surely for you.
